Q: What is Douglas Development
Partnership?
A: The partnership is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee
which has been set up jointly by Douglas Corporation and the Isle of
Man Chamber of Commerce with a remit of helping the partners to work
closely together to improve the image and environment of Douglas.
Q: How is the Partnership funded?
A: The majority of the Partnership's funding comes from Douglas
Corporation. However we also operate a Corporate Membership
scheme whereby local businesses can contribute towards the process
of improving the environment of Douglas. For further
information on the Corporate Membership scheme, please
Q: Is Douglas Development Partnership
the same as Douglas 2000?
A: Essentially yes although there have been a number of important
changes in the way the partnership is funded and constituted since
it changed its name from Douglas 2000.
Q: What does the Partnership do?
A: The Partnership aims to improve the image and environment of the
island's capital making it an even better place to live, work and
visit by working with other organisations to develop and deliver
projects and by improving levels of communication and co-ordination
between partners. We do this by ensuring that our partners
communicate well and work together and by establishing frameworks
and strategies within which the partners can work constructively
together.
Q: Does the Partnership actually
undertake projects?
A: Our limited resources mean that we only undertake small projects
directly. Our strength is in assisting our partners to deliver
high quality projects. Often the Partnership contributes
additional funding to other organisation's projects in order to
enhance the overall quality of the project.
